boat sinks
A 96-year-old boat sank in Ketchikan’s Ward Cove Harbor for the second time in three years. The Diehless slowly sank, stern-first, Wednesday afternoon. The cause wasn’t immediately known. The 60-foot boat also sank in March 2010 but was salvaged and refloated. It was built in 1916 as a cargo ship.

The longtime superintendent of Anchorage schools said goodbye to students yesterday on the last day of school. Carol Comeau is retiring effective June 30th. Comeau began her career in the district in 1974. She was named superintendent in 2000.
