Tsunami Debris Invasion

We men­tioned yes­ter­day that Sen­a­tor Lisa Murkowski is plan­ning a fly-over of the Gulf of Alaska and Prince William Sound for a first­hand view of debris wash­ing onto Alaska shores. The debris believed to be from last years Japan­ese Tsunami. A grow­ing con­cern is that the debris rep­re­sent a new way for all sorts of inva­sive species to make their way onto our shores. Sci­en­tists say extinc­tions hap­pen because of inva­sions and invaders could be tag­ging along with the debris. It’s another con­se­quence that experts are keep­ing a watch­ful eye on.
